Bob Menendez\u00a0and his wife will be tried separately on allegations that they participated in a bribery scheme, a federal judge ruled Thursday after Nadine Menendez\u2019s lawyers argued that\u00a0she requires treatment\u00a0for a serious medical condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The New Jersey Democrat\u2019s trial will remain scheduled for May 6 in Manhattan federal court, while Nadine Menendez\u2019s trial was tentatively pushed back to July 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis trial is going forward without Mrs. Menendez\u201d in order to \u201cgive some stability and certainty to all parties,\u201d Judge Sidney Stein said. \u201cThe government is going to have to try this case two times.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nadine Menendez\u2019s lawyers argued for the move in a letter to Stein this week, saying she was recently diagnosed with an unspecified condition that will require surgery in the next four to six weeks.
