{"id":956,"date":"2021-11-20T04:32:51","date_gmt":"2021-11-20T04:32:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.whatistandfor.co\/fightingcorruptionandworkriot\/?p=956"},"modified":"2021-11-20T04:32:52","modified_gmt":"2021-11-20T04:32:52","slug":"egypt-assembles-bipartisan-powerhouse-lobbying-team-for-post-trump-era","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.whatistandfor.co\/fightingcorruptionandworkriot\/egypt-assembles-bipartisan-powerhouse-lobbying-team-for-post-trump-era\/","title":{"rendered":"Egypt assembles bipartisan powerhouse lobbying team for post-Trump era"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Egyptian government has wasted no time preparing for the post-<strong>Donald Trump\u00a0<\/strong>era, assembling a bipartisan powerhouse lobbying team that includes retired congressman<strong>\u00a0Ed Royce<\/strong>\u00a0and a former top aide to House Majority Leader\u00a0<strong>Nancy Pelosi<\/strong>\u00a0(D-Calif.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Egypt\u2019s ambassador to the United States,\u00a0<strong>Motaz Zahran<\/strong>, signed the $65,000-a-month\u00a0contract\u00a0with\u00a0<strong>Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck<\/strong>\u00a0on Monday Nov. 9, the first weekday after\u00a0<strong>Joe Biden<\/strong>\u00a0delivered his victory speech on Saturday. Signing for the Denver-based law firm is policy director Royce, a California Republican who chaired the House Foreign Affairs Committee from 2013 through 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nadeam Elshami<\/strong>, the former chief of staff to Pelosi and a 25-year veteran of Capitol Hill, is expected to supervise work on the account along with Royce. Elshami was born in the United States but spent his early childhood in Egypt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two of the firm\u2019s partners, veteran Republican lobbyist\u00a0<strong>Marc Lampkin<\/strong>, who manages the firm\u2019s Washington, D.C. office, and leading Democratic fundraiser\u00a0<strong>Alfred Mottur<\/strong>, are also registered on the account. They are joined by policy director\u00a0<strong>Douglas Maguire<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The firm will \u201cprovide government relations services and strategic counsel on matters before the US Government,\u201d according to its filing with the US Department of Justice.
