China’s plans to establish floating nuclear power stations raise concern in Washington

the US Indo-Pacific Command and the US State Department: “China is seeking plans to develop floating nuclear reactors that can provide energy for the military facilities it has built in the waters of the South China Sea

The Americans confirm that China has been conducting research and development for more than 10 years to establish this type of station

 

According to the newspaper, American officials complain that the international community “has not yet developed” standards that would regulate the safe use of floating power plants.

A US State Department official told the newspaper: “What worries us is that the closer they come to using floating nuclear power plants, the sooner they will use them for purposes that conflict with US national security
